Many will recall seeing in the late 80s large areas of framing timber under green and black tarpaulins waiting for four to six weeks of 'boric' diffusion treatment. In the 90s there was a bold vision of 'dry framing', which arguably provided a numberof benefits for producers and the building trade. Then, rightly or wrongly, the leaky building crisis forced the issue of preservative treatment of framing timber back into industry and public focus from the year 2000.
