Arnold Laver recently installed a high-technology Weinig automatic outfeed line at its Olympic Sawmills site in Sheffield, UK and, within weeks, doubled production on the moulder line. The line machines mainly pse, skirting boards, window boards and architraves, in big volumes. THE PRODUCTION GAINS ENCOURAGED the company to follow up the investment by ordering an automatic infeed line from Weinig for delivery later this year. Laver began to consider automatic handling equipment because the manual handling methods being used were restricting 'run time' on the moulder. Also, material could not be bundled efficiently enough into small packs to meet demand. Counting the linear lengths produced was not 100% accurate and too slow.
