Place and significance of Charales in the organic world system

摘要

Evolution of views on the place and significance of Charales in the organic world system is discussed. Classifications, their relationships with other groups of algae and land plants, importance of molecular and genetic investigations are considered for establishing the role of Charophyta in origin of land plants.
