Agricultural Use of Reclaimed Water with Drip Irrigation

Israel has been able to meet the challenge posed by both population growth and water scarcity by moving firmly in the direction of wastewater reclamation, currently recycling more than 75 percent of its sewage, with reclaimed wastewater accounting for 50 percent of Israel's irrigation water consumption. In spite of these accomplishments, Israel must increase its use of effluents in agriculture in order to maintain the current standard of living in Israel and meet future water demand.
