Effects of fertilization on nutrient status in sour cherry

Several experiments have shown that the choice of rootstock can affect the nutrient status of the trees in different ways. Results from cherry experiments have shown that the rootstock 'Colt' often results in a reduction in the leaf potassium concentration compared to trees on Prunus avium. Previous experiments on Prunus avium have shown that potassium fertilization seems to have a positive effect on the yield and the critical level for the potassium was estimated to be 1.4% on a leaf dry weight basis. It remains unknown if potassium fertilization has the same effect on Prunus cerasus 'Stevnsbaer' on 'Colt'.
