A very happy and successful 2007 to all readers and may all your individual desires for the year be fruitful. As I reported last month, my wife and I made a trip to Hong Kong during the last two weeks of November with the aim of meeting members resident there, holding an evening seminar and, hopefully, getting the first Overseas Branch up and running. I am pleased to report that the trip was very successful and that we now have the basis of an ABE Overseas Branch in Hong Kong. Over 50 people, a mixture of members and non-members, attended a seminar on the evening of 27 November during which I outlined the structure of the ABE, the composition of its membership, its aims, membership structure, training activities and its links with others including governments. I then went on to talk about the ABE strategy for Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China and concluded by providing an insight into the requirements and responsibilities involved in establishing an Overseas Branch.
