The Factor of After-Ripening and Seed Dormancy in Foxtail Millet

To find out the diversity in seed dormancy of foxtail millet and the relationship between seed dormancy and maturity, 147 foxtail millet germplasm accessions were grown in an Alfisol at ICRISAT Asia Center (IAC) Patancheru, during Jul-Dec 1993. At physiological maturity, when the seed coat color .turned to light brown, a few seeds from selected heads were harvested and carefully hand-threshed to avoid injuries to the testa.
