A gentle reminder in the laparoscopic era left-sided inferior vena cava.

Congenital anomalies of the inferior vena cava (IVC) occur in approximately 3% of the population . Transposition of the IVC, in which it lies to the left of the aorta, occurs in 0.2-0.5% of the population [1-3]. It may be discovered incidentally during investigation for suspected intra-abdominal pathology, or revealed during elective or emergency retroperitoneal abdominal surgery in which iatrogenic haemorrhage may occur. We report a case of left sided vena cava with literature review and discussion.
