BRE Global have signed a licence agreement with the British Board of Agrement (BBA) to provide Environmental Profiles certification for construction product manufacturers. BRE's Environmental Profile Certification Scheme is the authoritative standardised method of identifying and assessing the environmental effects associated with building materials over their life-cycle, covering their extraction, processing, use and their eventual disposal. The methodology underpinning the scheme establishes a set of common rules for applying life-cycle assessment (LCA) to UK construction products and a means for presenting 'embodied' environmental data which cuts through the confusion of claims and counterclaims about the performance of products.
