Back in December, the Association was invited to attend the Construction Industry Council's (CIC) launch of the UK Construction Professional Services Survey. Hosted at Westminster Place and attended by the Past President David B Smith, the Chief Executive of CIC, Graham Watts, introduced the event and welcomed the guests. This was followed by two presentations; Research Findings; presented by Mark Way, CIC Director of Skills and Methodology; presented by David Crossthwaite of Davis Langdon. The Survey of UK Construction Professional Services (CPS) is the third comprehensive survey carried out by the CIC and follows on from the 1996 and 2002 surveys looking at the size of the UK market for construction professional services. The CPS sector includes professionals from engineering, architecture and surveying. There are currently approximately 27,950 professional firms in the UK earning a total of 13.9 billion pounds on projects in the UK and employing 270,000 people, 77 percent of which are male.
