In the true spirit of 'devolution' the President and Chief Executive travelled to Scotland recently and presented Bill Jackson, Property Director of the National Library for Scotland with his certificate in this year's Fire Safety Awards (see report in Regional Round-up, July 2006). They were joined in Edinburgh by a number of ABE members including Dr Paul Stollard of the Scottish Building Standards Agency, Bill was 'highly commended' for carrying out a most thorough fire risk assessment in relation to the Library and its priceless contents - in addition, and most importantly, for getting the necessary improvements made to the building whilst ensuring the ongoing support of numerous interested parties involved with this historic building.
