It wasn't that long ago when the premium application in Malaysia for radiata pine was for big wooden crates to protect locally made sheet glass in transit. Its lightness and flexibility were excellent attributes for the task. Pine cable drums were another popular application. But neither was an especially sophisticated use.New Zealand pine seemed to drop off the Malaysian shopping list for some years. But having recently had the opportunity -courtesy of the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) - to take a good look at forestry and wood processing in Peninsular Malaysia, it is clear that many doors are opening for radiata pine in South-East Asia.
