摘要

Larval development of the hermit crab, Pagurus gracilipes (Stimpson, 1858) (Decapoda: Anomura:Paguridae), is described and illustrated from larvae reared in the laboratory. Development includedfour zoea and a single megalopa, thus following the typical pattern in the Paguridae. At atemperature of 22 deg C larval development took from 19 to 25 days. The main zoeal features allowassignment of P. gracilipes, as well as P. kulkarnii, to Group C of Pagurus larvae (typicalrepresentative: Pagurus anachoretus). Although P. gracilipes, P. hartae, and P. constans wereearlier assigned to the genus Parapagurodes on the basis of adult characters, their larvae representa heterogeneous group and should evidently be placed to different subdivisions of Pagurus larvae.
