摘要

Water is the most penal hazard of them all", so says Michael Hurdzan (Golf Course Architecture), Golf Architect. Fellow Golf Architect, Tom Doak (Anatomy of a Golf Course), adds to this perspective stating, "water hazards can provide the most dramaticmoments in golf, or the most frustrating". He expands on their use as a hazard as being not ideal hazards. For Doak, they should be used sparingly as they create an unplayable situation, when the very nature of the game is to play the ball from wherever you have hit it. Water bodies introduce a "do or die" situation and have become popular with many golf architects of the heroic and strategic schools of design which place emphasis on risk and reward.
