The Open Championship returns to the shores of the Firth of Clyde in July for the first time since 1997 when Justin Leonard lifted the Claret Jug. The Old Course at Royal Troon offers a demanding test of links golf and has all the credentials necessary to test the very best in the world. The exposed nature of the course together with its strategic design, unique hole orientation, the demands of its hazards and the severity of its rough will all need to be negotiated by the 156 strong field. If the wind blows, Royal Troon will exact no mercy and will demand patience, sound judgement and good technique from any potential champion.
