Laboratory testing has always been an important service offered by STRI to the extent that more than 4000 samples are analysed every year. The laboratory services are divided into three specialised areas. Soil Chemistry headed by Dr. David Lawson, Soil Physics headed by Dr. Stephen Baker and Turfgrass Pathology headed by Dr. Kate Entwistle.
