Tethys Petroleum said that Kazakhstan well AKK17 was drilled to a depth of 653 m and encountered a 4-m interval of gas bearing Tasa-ran sand with an average porosity of 31%. The AKK17 well will be flowed as part of a testing program to be carried out after further wells have been drilled. The drilling rig has now been mobilized to the second shallow gas exploration well location, AKK18, and drilling should start within the next week.
