PPV2 virus infections were causing high morbidity and mortality throughout North America and Asia from 2004/2005 onwards and disappeared just as quickly starting from 2006 when PCV2 vaccines became available. In Europe the PMWS (Post-weaning Multi-systemic Wasting Syndrome) situation was quite different.
