Rosneft Acquires Stake in Gas Producer ITERA

Russia's Rosneft has acquired 6% of gas company ITERA in an effort to boost its presence in the domestic gas market and present a challenge to Gazprom, according to Reuters. Last year, Rosneft produced about 12-billion cu m of gas, or less than 2% of Russia's total gas output. In February, Rosneft and ITERA agreed to joint development of local gas fields.
