Lukoil Initials West Qurna-2

Russia's Lukoil and Norway's Statoil on Tuesday initialed an agreement with the Iraqi government to develop the giant West Qurna-2 field. The partners won the field in Iraq's second postwar licensing round earlier this month (IOD Dec.15,p1). Statoil also said Tuesday that it had agreed with Lukoil to raise its stake in the field to 25% from the original 15%. But under the eventual deal, Lukoil will have 56.25%, Statoil 18.75% and an Iraqi state-owned company 25%.
