Russian pipeline monopoly Transneft says it is close to launching its Baltic Pipeline System-2 (BPS-2) line, which has been designed to bypass Belarus and thus reduce the risks of oil transit disputes with neighboring states. A source within Transneft told International Oil Daily that the last joint of the linear part of the pipeline, which will run from Unecha on the Belarus border to Russia’s new Baltic port of Ust-Luga, should be welded by October.
