BP's devastating Macondo oil spill in the US Gulf will likely lead to more formality and accountability in the relationship be- tween oil companies and service firms, Schlumberger boss Andrew Gould predicts. Since April's catastrophic blowout on the Deepwater Horizon rig, in which 11 people died, arguments over responsibility — and thus financial liabilities — have been raging among BP and its contractors and partners in the well, which include Transocean, Hal- liburton, Anadarko and Mitsui.
