Russia's biggest private oil producer Lukoil aims to invest $4.5 billion in Iraq's West Qurna-2 project in the next three to five years. Lukoil president Vagit Alekperov said the contract to develop the acreage - which the Russian major won in a partnership with Norway's Statoil at Iraq's second postwar licensing round earlier this month - would be signed at the end of January (IOD Dec. 15,p1).
