Equatorial Guinea Plateaus

Equatorial Guinea expects little growth in oil production over the next five years, with output expected to plateau at 250,000- 300,000 b/d, Vice Minister for Energy Gabriel Obiang Lima told the CWC conference in London Wednesday. Production of oil and condensates in Equatorial Guinea - sub-Saharan Africa's third largest producer - has fallen to around 248,000 b/d, he said. That is down from more than 300,000 b/d in recent years and partly reflects a drop from the Exxon Mobil-operated Zafiro field. New projects, such as the Noble-operated 50,000 b/d Aseng project - due on stream in 2012 - will sustain the plateau (IOD Jul.23,p6).
