UK offshore industry lobby group Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) has set up a taskforce to improve North Sea helicopter safety in the wake of last week's fatal helicopter crash off the northeast coast of Scotland in which all 16 people on board died (IOD Apr.2,p8). OGUK said the group will act on behalf of the industry as a "communications focal point" for sharing information, advice and knowledge about helicopter accidents with oil companies and other stakeholders, and help implement safety recommendations from the UK's Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB).
