BG Strikes North Sea Oil

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) said Wednesday that the UK's BG and three partners have struck oil at appraisal wells on the North Sea Bream prospect. The NPD said estimates from the appraisal well data indicate the field holds 39 million-63 million bbl of recoverable oil. Three wells were drilled at Bream, which lies about 50 km northwest of the Yme field in license 407. BG owns 40% of the license, while Norway's Spring Energy Exploration and Skeie Energy and the UK's Premier Oil hold 20% each.
