PNG LNG Work to Start in 2010

Construction of the Exxon-led PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea will begin in early 2010, venture partner Oil Search said Monday, though a final investment decision (FID) has not yet been made. Oil Search said the PNG LNG partners, which include Australia's Santos and Japan's Nippon Oil, have approved US$600 million in infrastructure projects that will pave the way for the start of construction next year of the 6.3 million ton/yr LNG facility. The work includes road repair and upgrades, camp and training facilities construction, and wharf upgrades, as well as site preparation work in the PNG Highlands, where a gas processing plant will be built
