Kazakhstan’s financial police now say they have opened a criminal case against the Chevron-led venture developing the giant onshore Tengiz field after alleging overproduction worth some $1.44 billion. “We have launched a criminal case under suspicion of illegal entrepreneurship involving a particularly large amplification of income,” Reuters quoted financial police spokesman Murat Zhumanbai as saying on Thursday. Operator Tengizchevroil (TCO) maintains it is in “full compliance with its contractual agreements.”
