Australian-listed Sino Gas and Energy is preparing to start a fracture stimulation pro- gram in its Linxing and Sanjiaobei coalbed methane blocks in China’s Ordos Basin. The firm said Tuesday that it is in the final stages of planning the program, which will start in May. It will use a Chinese contractor for the work, to drill between two and five wells. Wellheads for the flow tests are expected to be installed in the coming week. In addition locations for new wells are being deter- mined. The blocks, covering more than 3,700 sq km in Shanxi province, are close to existing pipelines. Sino Gas says contingent and prospective gas resources in the basin total 2.7 Tcf.
