Batch farrowing - an overview

Traditionally in the UK and many other countries sows were farrowed on a weekly basis, usually mid week, to avoid excessive weekend work. As units became bigger many still stayed with once weekly farrowing, but many moved on to farrowing twice a week. Interestingly, to continue this theme a large unit in Australia actually weans sows seven days a week.
