The UK's BG has started gas production from its subsea Sequoia development in Egypt, bringing six new production wells on stream to help maintain overall plateau production. The $1 billion development was completed six months ahead of schedule, BG said. Sequoia, which made up Phase VI of the development of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession, also extends into the BG-operated Rosetta concession in Egypt's Mediterranean. Next up for BG at WDDM is the $1 billion Phase VII compression project, followed by the $2.5 billion Phase VIII project by mid-2010 - both also aimed at sustaining BG's 2.4 Bcf/d plateau output in Egypt (IOD Jun.3,p8). Phase V started up in June.
