Yemen says it has seized a boat carrying smuggled weapons bound for Al-Houthi rebels, a group of Yemeni militants fighting a battle on various fronts with Saudi and Yemeni forces (IOD Nov.24,p6). The interior ministry said the fishing boat originated from Somalia and was heading for the Yemeni Red Sea port of Hodeidah, 200 km from where the Al-Houthis are fighting in northern Saada province. The Saudi navy established a blockade near the northern Yemeni port of Midi earlier this month after Yemen said it captured a ship carrying Iranian weapons and sailors in its territorial waters.
