London-listed explorer Sterling Energy said Monday that bad weather has forced it to delay drilling for a month in the Sangaw North Block in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq. Sterling and Chinese partner Sinopec had hoped to start drilling in late December (IOD Dec.1,p7). But the UK independent said unseasonably heavy rain in the Sangaw area last month severely delayed the well site construction work. "The start of drilling for the Sangaw North exploration well is likely to be delayed to the end of January," the firm said in a statement.
