UK government plans to scrap funding for four powerful salvage tugs from September 2011 have been slammed as “a backward penny-pinching step that puts the environment and seamen’s lives at risk” by activist group Friends of the Earth (FOE) in Wales. The tugs are based in Falmouth, Dover, the Shetlands and the Western Isles.
