Pemex Board Members Considering Major Restructuring

The administrative council of Pemex, Mexico's state oil company, is considering major changes to the firm's organizational structure. Fluvio Ruiz, one of four independent members on the council, tells International Oil Daily that the body will evaluate whether it makes sense to merge Pemex's several subsidiaries. Currently, Pemex runs its exploration and production, natural gas, refining, petrochemicals and trading activities as separate businesses. Ruiz says council members are debating whether Pemex would function better as a vertically integrated firm.
