Algeria's state Sonatrach has found oil and gas in its Ghadames Basin Area 65 in Libya, where production tests on the A1-65/02 wildcat well flowed oil at a rate of 1,344 b/d and gas at 1.88 MMcf/d. Sonatrach has a 25% interest in the exploration and production sharing agreement, with Libyan National Oil Corp. (NOC) on 75%. The well's final depth was 2,753 meters, Sonatrach said. The acreage, 230 km south of Tripoli, is near Canadian Verenex's Ghadames Basin Area 47, where reserves are estimated at 2.15 billion bbl (IOD Mar.19,p7).
