The role of probiotics in pig health management.

It was shown that although Group B had the highest number of faecal coliforms, the overall faecal macroscopic aspect was better in this group compared to the other groups. Serum lipopolysaccahrides in Group B decreased from days 15-30 and was similar to the other groups. All groups were negative for Salmonella sp. Growth performance was similar between treatments. These results show that acidifiers are a good alternative to antibiotics in pig diets.
