Canada's Verenex said Tuesday that Libya's National Oil Corp. (NOC) has not yet formally communicated its intent to exercise its preemptive right to block the sale of the company to China National Petroleum Corp. International (CNPCI) and buy Verenex itself (IOD Mar.19,p7). Verenex in February announced an acquisition agreement with CNPCI, subject to NOC's approval, valued at $398 million. But NOC in March said it would acquire Verenex, which has had a string of successful wells at its Ghadames Basin Area 47 acreage.
