UK Cygnus Holds Promise

US-based independent Endeavour said Tuesday that the latest appraisal well at the Cygnus field, in the UK's southern North Sea, has indicated an eastern portion that could hold over 500 Bcf (14.2 Bcm) of reserves. The Cygnus 44/12a-4 well extended the field's productive area by confirming the presence of recoverable gas in a third fault block; Endeavour now estimates gross recoverable reserves from the eastern part of the field alone at more than 500 Bcf - and expects this to increase as more fault blocks are drilled.
