BHP Exits Australia Blocks

BHP Billiton has exited two offshore blocks in Western Australia, farming its stake out to Japanese upstream firm Inpex and US Apache.Inpex said Thursday that it has agreed to acquire a 19% interest in permit WA-35-L and a 23.7% interest in the WA-255-P Block 1081 from BHP Billiton. Apache will acquire an additional 21% stake in the same block, bringing its new interest to 52.5%. BHP previously held a 40% interest in the acreage.
