Talisman Q4 Profits Jump 83%

Canada's No. 4 independent oil and gas producer Talisman Energy posted an 83% jump in fourth-quarter profit helped by gains on certain derivative contracts.Talisman's net income for the quarter climbed to C$1.20 billion (C$1.17/share), from C$656 million, or C63φ, in the fourth quarter of 2007. The results include unrealized C$805 million gain on the value of certain held-for-sale financial instruments.
