Sweden's Lundin Petroleum has sold its stake in the Ashirovskoye oil field in the Russian region of Orenburg for less than half the price it paid. Lundin offloaded its 50% indirect interest in Russian oil firm Oilgaztet, which holds the production license for Ashirovskoye, to the closed joint stock company's other shareholders. It had acquired the stake via subsidiary Valkyries Petroleum, which paid $9 million for it in February 2006. Lundin did not give a reason for the sale and a company spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
