Gazprom's profits jumped over 65% in the first nine months of 2008 on the back of soaring European sales and prices. The Russian gas giant's net profit, according to international accounting standards, skyrocketed to 705.41 billion rubles ($19.57 billion) from 426.27 billion rubles in the same period of 2007.
