Case 'Dropped' Against Total CEO

Public prosecutors in Paris have asked for the case against Total Chairman and Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie and former French interior minister Charles Pasqua over the Iraq oil-for-food deal to be dropped, according to French press reports on Thursday citing sources close to the investigation (IOD Oct.23'06,p1). The reports said the request was made late last month, and that prosecutors had asked for cases against eight other Total employees to be dropped.
