Mexico's government has authorized an increase in the price of gasoline in a move that has angered opposition politicians. In doing so, the government has also broken a promise not to raise gasoline prices until next year. On Dec. 19, Mexico's finance ministry authorized a five-centavo per liter increase in the retail price of Magna gasoline, the standard variety. That was followed on Dec. 26 by another, three-centavo increase.
