The political turmoil that has engulfed Iran since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of the Jun. 12 presidential elections shows no signs of abating as political splits widen among the ruling elite (IOD Jun.24,p1). According to several observers in Tehran, the relentless infighting will complicate the process of choosing a new government - including a possible new oil minister - and, longer term, could make the country almost ungovernable.
