Brief Oil Stock Outperformance Runs Out of Steam in November

With crude prices range-bound and earnings season drawing to a close, the Energy Intelligence Finance (EIF) index of 13 integrated oil and gas firms found little impetus to prolong the market outperformance it exhibited in October into November. The EIF index rose 2.4% over the month, falling short of the 5.8% jump in the S&P 500. Nevertheless, a few companies were able to keep the positive momentum going into the final stretch of 2009.
