A marine contractor that assisted with containment operations during the BP oil spill has said it is in advanced discussions with an industry group to provide deepwater containment services on an as-needed basis. Houston-based Helix Energy Solutions said it has nearly finished developing its Deepwater Containment System, which would act as a first line of defense in the event of an oil spill or loss of well control in the Gulf of Mexico.
