Shell Plans Major Production Hike at Iraq's Majnoon Field

Royal Dutch Shell plans to crank up Iraq's largely untapped Majnoon oil field to 200,000 barrels per day by the end of 2011, a senior Iraqi oil official says, adding momentum to Baghdad's ambitious oil expansion. Swift work at the neighboring giants of Rumaila, West Qurna-Phase 1 and Zubair - awarded in Iraq's first oil round - is already set to add at least 150,000 b/d of new output by the end of December and lift overall production beyond 2.6 million b/d.
