Cairn Makes H1 Loss

UK-based Cairn Energy made a net loss of $20 million before exceptional items in the first half of 2009 as a result of lower production and prices, compared with a $17 million profit in the year-earlier period. Earnings were further dented by a $55 million exceptional item related to a dispute with the Indian government over the Ravva field.
